Taichung Second Sector – The Power of Reading – Donating Reading Materials to Dong-Shi Xin-Sheng Elementary School
In order to foster students’ reading abilities, the Taichung Second Sector, along with the Headquarters, donated a series of extracurricular reading materials titled SDGs 17: Ways to Change the World to Dong-Shi Elementary School and Xin-Sheng Elementary School. The aim is to guide children in learning about and understanding the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These books not only enhance students’ reading skills but also help them focus on global issues, nurturing a sense of social and environmental responsibility from a young age.
During the book donation event, principals and teachers in attendance had in-depth discussions with branch representatives about the importance of extracurricular reading materials in education, particularly in sparking children’s interest in reading and developing critical thinking skills. Additionally, the challenges brought by low birth rates were highlighted, as declining student populations make resource and teacher allocation more difficult. School officials expressed their gratitude for the donation, viewing it as support that not only supplements educational resources but also encourages schools to continue striving for higher education quality.
This event not only raised awareness of education-related issues in society but also demonstrated the collective determination of various sectors to work together in promoting education.
